THREE HOBBIES EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE

This past weekend, Freddie and I were out for a walk when we started discussing different hobbies and interests that we had. Freddie mentioned something he had recently heard, and I fell in love with it! I knew immediately that I wanted to share this on the blog because it really resonated with me.

The saying starts, “Find three hobbies you love:”…

  1. One to Make You Money. This hobby is usually referred to as a ‘job’ or a ‘career.’ I think one of the greatest feats in this world is finding something you adore and being able to wake up every day and do it for a living. Mark Twain said, “Find a job you enjoy doing, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” Amen to that!

2. One to Keep You in Shape. My entire life I have been a runner, I can thank my Dad for that because we started running when I was young as an activity to do together. Just us, the beautiful warm, South Florida weather and non-negotiable bonding time; it was perfect.

As I transitioned into adulthood, I continued running because it was something I really enjoyed. Whether alone or with a group, I love how it makes me feel and allows me to clear my head.

I think the best form of cardio is the one that you’ll actually do. Keep looking for an activity that makes you happy! There’s a whole big world out there. You are bound to find something.

Although I love running, Freddie and I have been loving our walks together recently. It is a hobby we get to do with one another where we can connect and discuss future plans, goals, progress, projects, etc. The goal is to hit 10k steps a day (If you hit 10k steps/day for a week you supposedly lose a pound - I’m not a big scale person so I don’t have a personal testimonial for this. I do, however, love the way walking makes me feel and the time spent with my fiancé.)

3. One to Be Creative. I believe having a creative outlet is one of the greatest stress relievers in the world. It allows you to get lost in what you are doing and truly live in the moment.

When I originally heard this saying, I thought of my Mom, Vallerie. She worked as a RN and retired years ago. However, she found a true passion of hers in painting while being retired. It was then that she transformed the entire upstairs into a painting studio and now creates every day.

For me, I am very driven by creativity. For many years, I ran a business that didn’t necessarily allow me to utilize my creative abilities. It was then that I began writing again for fun. I started a blog called The Flawless Blogspot as a hobby. Eventually, I made a big pivot and here we are today with the blog and podcast! But it all started and stemmed from a hobby that brought me creative joy.

To recap: Find three hobbies you love: one to make you money, one to keep you in shape and one to be creative.

When I first heard this saying it sent chills up my spine. It really is so powerful yet so simple.

Do you have these three hobbies? If so, what are they?
